Submission Guidelines:

Please read this thoroughly before submitting to our magazine.

  • Please note: We aim to foster a Christ-driven community of creatives who use their gifts to bless one another through art and literature. This doesn't mean that your work must contain Christian themes. We just ask that you read our 'About' page before submitting, and ensure that your values align with our mission.

  • Although we are an Australian-based publication, we accept submissions from anywhere in the world! If your piece is written in a language other than English, we ask that you provide an English translation for our editors to understand.

  • We accept simultaneous submissions. However, on the occasion that your work is accepted for publication elsewhere, we ask that you alert us via email at poiemamagazine@gmail.com, with "Withdrawing Submission" as the subject title. All the best with your publication!

  • We only accept one submission per person, per issue.

  • Upon submission you verify that your work is original. Plagiarism and the use of AI (excluding editing tools such as Grammarly) is strictly prohibited in order to maintain the publication's integrity.

  • Information provided in the submission form will be kept private excluding details necessary for publication (Genre, Submission Title, Name, Bio, Song and Social Handles if provided).

  • This is a not-for-profit organisation, so there are no rates or fees for submissions at the moment.

Standard Publishing Agreement:

Upon submission, the Author grants Poiema Magazine a one-time license to publish the Work in our online magazine, and for any related purposes to promote or advertise Poiema Magazine and its publications, both digitally and physically. The Author consents to have their name, bio, and Work reproduced in connection to the license.

The Work, whether or not it is accepted, will remain under your own Intellectual Property copyrights. You will maintain full credit over your work, and may publish it elsewhere after a period of 6 months' publication in our magazine. Upon submission, the Author consents for Poiema Magazine to make grammatical and structural edits to your work, to fit the Australian Government Style Manual and be optimised for the reader. Any requests by our editing team to make major adjustments will be communicated to you in the decision email, and your consent will be obtained before any significant edits are made to your work. The original copy, and the edited copy, will be owned and attributed to you.
